Who We Are
It Started with a Conversation
Elfin Adventures began the way a lot of good ideas do — with a friend saying something that wouldn’t leave us alone.
She was telling us about a subscription she buys for her two granddaughters, ages seven and eight. They love getting mail — real mail, addressed to them, something to hold in their hands. But the service she’d found was, in her words, “a bit too old for them.” The stories went over their heads. The connection wasn’t quite there.
She wasn’t complaining, exactly. She was just noticing a gap. There aren’t many options out there for younger children — especially ones that feel age-appropriate, imaginative, and genuinely designed with kids like hers in mind.
We couldn’t stop thinking about that gap. And eventually, we decided to do something about it.
What We Believe
We built Elfin Adventures around a few things we care about deeply.
We believe in the magic of real mail. There is something genuinely special about a child receiving an envelope addressed to them — something that belongs to them, that came from somewhere far away, that exists in the physical world and not just on a screen. We want every letter to feel like that.
We believe in a world that looks like the world. The twenty-one young elves of Elf Academy come from twenty-one different places. They speak different languages, come from different backgrounds, and see the world in different ways. We think that’s worth celebrating — and we think children do too, when given the chance.
We believe in protecting the families who trust us. A children’s subscription service handles sensitive information — your family’s details, your children’s names. We take that responsibility seriously, and we’ve built Elfin Adventures with security at its foundation, not as an afterthought.
About Our Founder
Sara Rouse — Founder, Elfin Adventures
Sara grew up on a farm in the middle of nowhere — and she means that literally. For a good stretch of her childhood, there was no electricity, no running water, and no phone. While other kids were watching television, Sara was entertaining herself with very little: her imagination, whatever she could find, and a lot of quiet.
She grew up thinking she would become a writer, or maybe a teacher. Her family thought so too. Life, as it tends to do, had other plans. At nineteen, she accidentally faxed her resume to Microsoft — back in the days when you found jobs in the newspaper and sent your application by fax — and they hired her. That was the beginning of a career that took her from entry-level to Director, working in technology and information security for decades.
She never stopped writing. A novel sits finished on her desk, waiting for its moment. She never stopped daydreaming either, or believing that the stories we tell children — and the way we tell them — matter more than we sometimes realize.
Elfin Adventures is what happens when a career spent protecting data meets a lifetime spent loving stories. It’s built to be secure, thoughtful, and genuinely fun. And it comes from someone who still remembers what it felt like to be a kid with a big imagination and not quite enough to read.

A Small Team With Big Plans
Right now, Elfin Adventures is a small operation run with a lot of care. We are not a faceless corporation. We are people who genuinely love what we’re making, who read every piece of feedback, and who think about your family when we’re writing every letter.
Our goal is to grow — carefully, without ever losing what makes this feel special. New classes of elves, new adventures, new ways to bring a little magic to your mailbox.
We’re glad you found us. We hope your little ones love it.
